————————————————————————-
I am taking time today to reflect about what happened to us on September 11, 2001.

This is a picture from 9/11/01 - the Statue of Liberty standing strong at the time of a vicious attack on our country and the highest principles it was founded on.  9/11 should be a day of REMEMBRANCE and 9/12 should be a day of RE-COMMITMENT to make sure those who died on 9/11 didn’t die in vain … to commit to keep our FREEDOMS and LIBERTIES sacred.

This next picture, above, is after the second plane hit the second Twin Tower.  I was watching on TV what was happening and couldn’t believe my eyes as the second plane bore into the Twin Tower.  I gasped.  My heart went out for all those people who were working in the buildings.  Their lives changed forever … so few who survived.  I was in shock.  I couldn’t fathom that we were attacked on our own soil.  We were violated because of our greatness, our principles of freedom and liberty for every citizen in the USA.

I cried.  I was saddened.  I was scared.

What was happening?  My country was in danger.  My life as I knew it changed from that moment on. I started questioning everything.

I can’t find the image yet, but the one thing that I still
remember seeing is a woman jumping from the WTC
holding hands with another person.  I imagined they thought
that they had a better chance to survive the fall than being buried
by multi-tons of debris from the destroyed building imploding
in on them.

I think about that woman’s life before the attack …
was she dropping her kids off at school
before she went to work, thinking about what had to be
done during the day and what she was going to make for
dinner that evening?  Then in a dramatic, life changing
instant, this woman faced her impending death.  What was
she thinking in those last moments …

Was her life given for naught?

I now know that I must dedicate my life to speaking up for
our country’s founding principles, beliefs, Constitution, the
Declaration of Independence, what our founding fathers and
citizens gave up to create our country and all of those who
have given their lives for our country since then up to today …

We live in the greatest country in the world - we have the best
principles to live by, we have the ability to determine our own
individual destinies and have the OPPORTUNITY AND POSSIBILITY
to strive for our personal highest dreams and goals no matter what
background, what gender, what race, what economic strata, what
educational level.

Let not what happened to us on 9/11 be in vain - lets be
stronger because of it.  Let us send prayers to those who
lost their loved ones that day.  Let us each make our
individual commitment to do what ever we can to ensure our
country doesn’t implode in flames like the twin towers. Let us
vow to be more involved and make a difference and take control
of our lives from this day forward …

9/11 is a day of REMEMBRANCE  to keep us awake to what
is precious to everyone of us every day.  God bless you and the USA.

What Are Your Resolutions for 2009?

Hello Everyone,

Only one more day left in 2008.

How was your year?  Did it go as planned and as you wished it would?

One thing for sure, probably most of us didn’t envision that there would be a melt down in the housing market that would lead to a financial market collapse; that ALL the investment banking firms would disappear; the big three auto companies would be on the verge of bankruptcy; and that there would be almost a TRILLION dollar bailout (funded by taxpayer’s money) given by the federal government!  All of which contributed to the nearly 50% drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and other stock market indices.

Recession is upon us.  And most people few poorer.

This was a surprise to everyone and to all the pundits.  These events could be described as one of those “outliers” nobody saw coming.  If you’ve ever read the book The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, what happened in our country is a real live example of what he was talking about!  We definitely felt the massive impact of these highly improbable events in so many areas of our daily life.  And, they came out of left field so to speak!

Things like this are out of our control in some sense … especially if your livelihood is dependent upon a job or a career in the industries affected by this upheaval.  Even if you are in another industry or field, you’ve probably felt the effects of the economic melt down indirectly. None of which is pretty.

So how can you protect yourself from such economic devastation?

Take control of your financial destiny by creating other streams of income!  Yes, that means start your own business.   There are so many ways that you can do this.  I know a few … and can help you figure out what would be best for you.

In this blog, I will be offering tips, guides and other sources of information to get you started.  So, you will not be alone on your new journey.  Nor will you be wondering what is good information … I will provide solid, up-front advice that you can check out and then take what you find useful for your own needs.

I’m doing this because I’m so passionate about people having choices in their lives - especially for their economic future.  Secondly, when I started my first business over 25 years ago, I needed a resource like this to go to.  This is my gift to all of you who are searching for mentor who can help you and give you the means to draw your road map towards your success.

For 2009, make a resolution and a commitment to take control of your financial destiny.  Then ACT on it by taking small steps toward your goal or target.  One of those small steps is to come back to this blog often.  Subscribe to it or add to your feed reader.  Next, follow me on Twitter and FaceBook (see the side bar for the link.  Also, add a note to your friend request that you visited my blog.)  You’ll be able to get back in contact with me and this blog.  Finally, reflect on what you would REALLY like to have in 2009 - what would your dream life be like.  Then write out that vision or make a mind movie (see my post below for more info) about it.  Your vision will be your connection to your grandest future!

My wish for you is a most wondrous New Year in 2009 … may it be filled with joy, fun, health, love and tons of prosperity for you and your family.

Linda
